    Even more covered with slime and dirt is CATIVEIRO, Gore Grind project of GORE from Brazil. While Gore was not exactly as brutal as the name implies, CATIVEIRO is defintely UGLY. The sound is dull and a bit garageish but it really just throws more filth and heaviness to their side. The drumming is incessant and hyperfast in the vein of Mexican DISGORGE, and guitars so disharmonized and dissonant to kill all melodies in the range of a square mile, this is the kind of nightmare bands you like to have on when the priest knoks at your door to bless your home. Vocals are gurgled and totally asymmetric with the rest of the instrument, this is real chaos and total destruction, not as tight and precise as the aforementioned DISGORGE, but definitely a ton of heavyness incarnated. I was expecting some sort of LYMPHATIC PHLEGM – oriented gore-grind but the vocals sounds really not harmonized in any way, therefore abit more “natural” than LP or LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY. Chaos, dirt and hate.

    PIGSTY have a weird, sick obsessiion for porks. The band pictures inside the booklet show four pink, young suines at the relative instruments, which is a nice, respectable mania. Other than the animal department, PIGSTY grinds your cock over a smoking lasagna plate, with one of the most instense grind/gore fron Czech rep., I even consder them better than PURULENT SPERMCANAL, the songs have such an intensity and cohesion thay’re really a truck full of festering maggots blown into your eardrums. The guitars are kept at a constant fast pace, never slowing down but instad just switching from fast to faster, which in this music is an essential thing, and when they break down a bit the pace is just to introduce another blast of fury. Vocals are kicked out of the throat on the top of the lungs, they almost sound a bit filtered for their intensity. To spice up the breaks, vocals have a clear suine imprint, basically guttural with the throat clasped tight to shift them so low to sound more “pigsty”. Good stuff.

    Honestly, I am really not good with this kind of bands, I just try hard to figure ut what’s the actual difference between one and another, and even more difficult is to understand what exactly is meant to be the cold, grey & dead factor. I really don’t feel any desperate or oppressed by hearing to albums like this as I am from hearing ABRUPTUM or BELIAL. The vocals are stridulous, creaky, the songs filled with epicity and romantic grandeur syringed with so much keyboards they almost make me miss MIDNIGHT ORCHESTRA. For thos who have not understood this so far, this is just a Norwegian Black metal band, not much different from a thousand others. I told you I was not pious with bands like this, I admit my ear is not trained for this music, but come on, thsi is really boring, makes the same effects as DEATH’s Sound of Perseverance on my intestine. There is a song from the demo ’94 at the end of the mini. Which is exactly the same as the other ones.

    Possibly the most complete, all-around goregrind band today, LDOH really personify the genre to the fullest, with a sound and intensity that is all but completely dehumanized. The vocals have a croaky, froglike incidence due to some heavy harmonizer effect which somewhat precludes many of the lyrics to be understood without a lyric sheet under your eyes, but I think it’s part of the game you have to face if you like this shit like I do. The grind parts are, well, grind, the way grind is really supposed to be, 1000mph super fast blast beats, and the guitars distorted in a way to create a very creepy, desperate atmosphere. I personally believe this band to be ULTIMATE in its genre, just like LYMPHATIC PHLEGM, SQUASH BOWELS, DISGORGE and RGTE. Lyrically and graphically, it’s all about splatter stuff and gore, just like the previous split (always on Bones brigade, and if you mind me they’re damn clever to hold this band tight). This cover shows a man spattered on the ground with its brain a few feet from the head. unequivocal for sure, but not as sanguinary as the music itself. One step beyond the other grind bands, fucking killer. Favorite tune? “Wet Remains”!

    Another hole in the water for INFERIA, economically speaking, for the second time the band has been ripoffed by clamorous offers by some obscure Russian label, which obviously didn’t anything to promote the band worldwiden as it deserved. Musically however INFERIA didnt’ relent or become nicer, on the contrary this album is even uglier than before, with some more samples (I think the first few seconds of the disc are from “Holiday Rap”) to spice it up, but basically the same bulldozer of Brutal Death with capital letters. The sound is a bit less refinished, which make them even a bit more grindy, but it’s still pounding like a raging bull. A few seconds of loose guitar breaks anticipate these bursts of rage, sometimes backed by moans and other porn samples (INFERIA have this knack for porn, much like countrymates MORBID SAVOURING, but still I won’t call em “grind”) and the guttural grunts pound like a hammer without soul over it all. Not a pretty picture…. another good thing is that while some titles form the previous Cd were a bit dubious in grammar, they seem to have finally found somebody which is a bit more proficient in english, at least on the track titles which this time seem correct.

    According to their bio, Inferia was already active in 1991, when Death Metal in Finland was at his highest peak (Demilich, Beherit, Archgoat, Demigod, Xysma… all spring to mind), although I got to know the band a bit later, with their first Cd on Invasion (cfr. interviews in Nuclear Abominations issue #1) named “Spawned at Dawn”. Although barely a MCd of a handful of minutes, my jaw dropped by the unbelievable intensity of the ultra-brutal-grinddeath which this band could reach, and remember, it was several years before DEEDS OF FLESH or GORGASM were even conceived. Precursors of what was to become a trademark American sound, without sloppy two-paced riffs but a constant vigorous blast from first to last second, INFERIA was already a classic in my top list, but due to obvious marketing reasons, I never again heard from them in almost 10 years, assuming the band was dead. Not only the band is alive and kicking, but it’s still one of the most forceful intense, furious Death Metal ever from Finland, stuff that can make lots of hyper-skilled American acts squeal with envy. To cut it short with descriptions, INFERIA plays the soundtrack of armageddon, right with the intensity of the DEICIDE of “Legion” and DEEDS OF FLESH but with even more guttural vocals, its path of destruction is really endless. The drummer is in a constant frenzy, the riffs cut deep gaping holes that will bleed forver in your ears, pack it in stainless production and you got some of the best Brutal Death Metal ever, it’s absolutely perfect, and to know they played it even before it was conceived as a stand alone genre, oh well, you know I am tender of heart on these things… I think I overlooked this Cds back when it was released, I had listened to it once back when I were in school, but now that I have it, dammit…

    The first demo was an insult to my ears, but this time VEXED rise a bit over the level of sufficiency, although still not completely my cup of blood. The guitars remind me of something like old school rock/thrash like VENOM, PILEDRIVER, CELTIC FROST and even old SLAYER (exp. the vokillz), that is, a bit more stanic/evil than HATEWORK, I admit the songs are structured rather well. Sure it’s dusty and overworn, but this music is not completely dead. Sometimes the music decays a bit, the riffs gets a bit too simplicistic and lose some tighness which was really fundamental in this genre, when you can0t rely too much on grindcore speed or massive sounds. It is not easy to play not to review: I have opposed reactions to a demo like this, I just guess if it was some rehearsal found in the basement of a crumbled building in Berlin it could have some cult fascination… oh well, I am sure somebody could appreciate the band without so many head trips. The second song is named like the last SADUS but I am not sure it’s a cover, haven’t listened much to it (it’s tooo boooring).
