  • NIGHTFALL (Gre): “Diva Futura” Cd 2000 Holy

    RECENSORE: Unknown

This is the kind of faggot, stiff looking bands which have the ability to drive on my nerves like razors. I have shivers when listening to this abomination. An unlikely combination of melodic death metal of the worst class (3rd AND THE MORTAL, THEATRE OF TRAGEDY) without any fair amount of decorum, and a handful of 80s sonorities in the vein of new wave bands, I could even dare a horrible mockery of DEPECHE MODE or DEAD OR ALIVE… All in all if I could find even a single reason why such band are allowed to put their pretentious crap on CD that would be their labels got rich with these homos.
  • NIGHT CONQUERS DAY (USA/Ny): “Rebellion is the Art of Survival” Cd 1999 Hammerheart

    RECENSORE: Unknown

    VOTO: 6,00/10

    DURATA:

73 minutes. I clenched my teeth in anticipation when I saw all of the songs in the CD were over 10 minutes long. Thing which might have meant either that NIGHT CONQUERS DAY are completely good or completely, utterly boring right? Actually I just wish there were no vocals as they succed in spoiling the cobwebs of atmosphere that manage do grow after this crepuscular music. Even though the backbone is something indeed interesting, there’s something evocative, some distant echoes of rain and medieval magic in the music, which also denotes a picky, precise and constant study in their arrangements. Actually after 15 minutes the music starts to get pretty uniform in shape and you either feel frozen between the chords of get hopelessly bored. Not tragic music but I admit I still don’t have a clear idea on what to say after 2 listens, except that sometimes they create the same chilling mood MERCIFUL FATE were able to craft 20 years ago, yet something different. Not canonical for sure, good music in its own genre.
  • NEW EDEN (USA/Ca): “Obscure Master Plan” Cd 1999 Nuclear Blast

    RECENSORE: Unknown

    VOTO: 1,00/10

The very fist word spoken by this faggot was like a wallop through my testicles. The vocals are in the IRON MAIDEN way and just like those clowns, are absolutely unbearable. I have not the competence to exactly rate to which category of excrement this music belongs, progressive, power or heavy, to me they sound like the same, but hey, I must wrtite something to forget I am listening to this stuff, because if I start to think about it, I can’t find a single reason why should I waste even one single second of my time to review this shit. Before you open your mouth, know this is not even funnily pompous as a normal Power Metal band. Its just boring, so boring and nerve shaking that I have to cut this short and sue this CD as a cup holder for my hot chocolate. Like all bands who play this music, they’re absolutely useless and unendurable. Fuck off. What the fuck happened to Nuclear Blast, is this music for you?
  • NEMBRIONIC (Hol): “Incomplete” Cd 1998 Displeased

    RECENSORE: Unknown

    VOTO: 7,00/10

    DURATA:

NEMBRIONIC, ex-NEMBRIONIC HAMMERDEATH is a rather well known band from late ’80/early ’90 which plays a rather honest Death Thrash metal. I believe every attempt by the label to mark them as a grind band is not accurate and a bit unfair. NEMBRIONIC play fast Death/Thrash metal and they do so in a respectable way. The song structure are rather interesting, thanks to a long time militating into this scene which also granted them an enviable array of releases, mixing Death with some characteristically Thrash guitar frameworks. Some PROTECTOR and ALTAR on speed might come to mind although the vocals are more of the Death Metal sort with some acceleration and some old school thrash details (again), all in all respectable if not outstanding. I think when you get to listen to all this music when you’re working a fanzine, bands which do not make themselves stand out of the average gets rapidly forgotten. Which might be a pity as NEMBRIONIC deserve some attention for sure. But just like OBSCENITY, I believe they need to spit out something more. To them the task to find what. Great the ghost track which lasts for almost half of the CD in the hand. Just wish I understood what they say.
  • NECROPHAGIA (USA/Oh): “Black Blood Vomitorium” MCd 2000 Red Stream

    RECENSORE: Unknown

    VOTO: 8,00/10

    DURATA:

This is the second time I hear the word Vomitorium (the first was the necrocannibalistic song on “Acts of the Unspeakable”). I doubt it exists in any dictionary, but anyway there’s more of AUTOPSY in the new NECROPHAGIA than in this term. A bit broader in encompassing some parts of rather classic Death Metal with samples and unidentifiable sonorities. But on the whole a rather sick expulsion which have that diseased, frenzied reek that ABSCESS and AUTOPSY have in common. Convulsed, sincere Gore Core with something of classic in it, just like that sort of feeling you get when listening to Death Metal at its very roots. Raw and primeval Death Metal, the way it shoukd always be. This is no pretty stuff to hear, you need stomach, but this is Death Metal, not country, you need a very special state of mind to like its core, and if you got it, you’ll also understand what is so good in NECROPHAGIA.
  • NARNIA (Swe): “Long Live the King” CD 1999 Nuclear Blast

Here we have arrived to the worst CD in this issue and probably one of the worse ever in the history of Metal music. I wanted to keep it for last because I really wanted to sort an accurate choice of insults and offences to describe this mass of thick excremental matter shaped into disc. But the music is so bad, so unspeakably intolerable it escapes any definition. An Italian b-level comedy actor some years ago would have described it as “la sintesi della disgrazia, l’apoteosi della schifezza” which would suit them yet too tight. I have no words to explain how thoroughly stupid, nauseating, hilarious, unnerving this music is. To sum it up it’s some cheap Christian Power Metal, yet the worse of the few I had the annoyance to hear. Any offense would me too light to this lowest of nonsense junk, their ineptitude escapes any description from meaningless cover artwork, worst level lyrics, tedious guitar evolutions, faggot vocals makes me wish this band rotting in the the worst of the pits of disgust. When music reaches such abysmal levels of insignificance, I feel not only this band should not exist, but the members which play in it should be either crippled for life, killed or have their relatives die of humiliating long deaths. The worst of the worst. No equals in homosexuality.
  • NAPALM DEATH (Eng): “Words from the Exit Wound” Cd 1998 Earache

    RECENSORE: Unknown

    VOTO: 6,00/10

    DURATA:

NAPALM DEATH is the band who, few remember this nowadays, baptized the term Grind Core. It’s a band who passed several moments, all the time proposing something different at every released who has been liked by some, hated by others. The first 2 albums are absolute masterpieces, mile stones of modern music and had a strong symbolical impact on the whole world musical scene at the time they were released. Soon after that the singer went away and Barney took the vacant place from the rows of BENEDICTION. This little lesson of history is just to anticipate that I have never had a precise idea on their albums untile I managed to give em a close listen. Some, like SPLATTEREAH turned them their backs to ND when they moved to Death Metal abandoning their crude, crusty garage approach to the fastest music ever existed. But then they had something to say after that period for me as well, until Barney took the path which BENEDICTION (again) were taking at the period. Which is, barking like a sick dog instead of grunting like he always did. Which lead me to stop liking NAPALM with the absolutely uninteresting and easily forgettable “Diatribes”. I was still paying attention in the distinctive, particularly cold synthetic touch they gave to their music at the time of “Fear Emptiness…” but that feeling I was afraid, had definitively abandoned their music for the ways of some weak structured Metal since “Diatribes”. Well in al, honesty this new CD is not that bad. Actually they made a step back, which is somewhat admirable. Although they hardly manage to interest me musically anymore, their music on this disc falls somewhere between “Fear” and “Diatribes”. Which is somewhere between interesting personal cold, inhuman Death and absolute nothingness. Whatever, from a band that have been played for such a long time, I was expecting something more.
