Well this is MOTORHEAD. One cannot but feel so small when talking about them. Lemmy is God after all, and MOTORHEAD is THE band which have brought the flag of noise and loudness far before LSAYER invented Death Metal. So, judging the band itself for its qualities would be impossible by itself, and more than everything, pretentious. But then, talking about this specific release, I have some comments boiling in my own head. That record labels have used the MOTORHEAD machine to spill the last drop of money out of every single idea, in hundred of collectibles, 7″, singles and live CDs is undeniable. To say that me like many others gave up to collect every single MOTORHEAD release is human I believe. But then some lives come out in good shape, and this double album has the nice, exquisitely classic feel of “No Remorse”, a kind of classy, detailed selection of tracks and a deeply felt choice of sound. With a perfect, warm sonority and a absolutely to the point choice of songs, this could be considered one of the few lives which deserve to be bought. But then it’s just a live CD, a good one, but not a full length release, and if you got “No Sleep ’till Hammersmith” and “No Sleep at All”, this is admittedly superfluous.

MOSHQUITO (Ger): “World’s End” Cd 2001 Morbid
Well this band, most likely every band which plays this music, stirs in me the same attention as THE HAUNTED, ICED EARTH or EXHORDER, in other words, none. Somewhat Thrash Metal. Halfway between the modern and old approach, it could be defined, a classification which doesn’t involve anything offensive, considering the band has been active for almost 15 years in one way or another, ever since the days of the iron curtain, but then, they lack some energy, some shine. The spin, the memorable, abrasive acceleration of old school thrash metal have left space to modern, precise, clean guitar sounds nicely encased in simple, easily remembered riffs, never too fast, often into that SEPULTURA like rhythmic, with not too distorted vocals, never too out of control. There’s some energy hidden somewhat into this music but I would appreciate it far more dirty, sincere, kicking in the ass this modern thrash metal, a music which doesn’t deserve to exist anymore.MELTDOWN (Mex): “Inner Enemy” Cd 2000 s/p
Well, actually the band is ok, although it lacks of energy and tightness all through the length. Double vocals (the fairly desperate, high pitched ones, and the low tuned ones) add some intensity, and sure, the recording is excellent though they really don’t reach the integrity that make other country mates such as THE CHASM, SHUB NIGGURATH or DISGORGE so fucking unique. The whole CD stay on a averagely fast pace, with averagely violent level. Nothing surprising nor memorable. Some variety is given by vaguely melodical, vaguely THE CHASMesque tempos, though not that sick.MANEGARM (Swe): “Nordstjarnans Tidsalder” Cd 1998 Displeased
Witchlike vocals and a melodic feel with fast blasts makes this band partly into the Black Metal container. But then the remaining texture is made up of some tainted “Death Metal” (I have to use the quotations) like modern Swedish stuff. But then it’s such a good cross I have to admit there’s something good. I just wish they didn’t masturbate so much over that kind of evolutions which only UNANIMATED seemed to be good at. There’s the same old nostalgic feeling into MANEGARM which is a “bit” overused lately. But they’re not the worst of them all… whatever I have listened to millions of these bands lately. Do something different or do it good.MALEVOLENT CREATION (USA/Fl): “The Fine Art of Murder” Pavement
The fact to having always managed to find a human drum machine at every change of line up must have not been easy task for them, yet they managed to put their hands on the startling talent of Dave Culross for this album which fuck, is so precise and damn fast with the drumsticks that the whole music almost suffer for the lacking of humanity which cursed the HATE ETERNAL debut. Despite this, this album signed a serie of excellent decisions for the band, which I approve with all of my heart, the music has become more varied and genuine than the previous 2 or 3 works and yeah, this albums also features the comeback of their real singer. Nobody but Bret Hoffman could play with MALEVOLENT CREATION, just like his vocals can’t fit any other band as perfectly as they fit MALEVOLENT (somebody remembers SILENT DEATH?). Well actually this album sees the band is great shape, a shine they almost lost ever since “Stillborn” more and more at each album. It was a very welcome comeback from my part at least, and it was followed by a row of absolutely killer live gigs which portrayed this masters again to top levels. Well for the rest, describing MALEVOLENT CREATION musicwise is no easy task. They’re Death metal, no more no less, never changing much from song to song but always maintaining a flow and a easily identifiable mood, with blinding speed hyperblasts that always remain clean and well distinguishable. Good product.MALEVOLENT CREATION (USA/Fl): “Joe Black” Cd 1999 Pavement
As above, like said before, MALEVOLENT stick to the same routine but High Class Death/Thrash Metal ever since they begun their career. But “Joe Black” is a bit faster and more raw than “Eternal” (luckily). On the bad part, I fall deep into slumber in my chair after 2 tracks…something soporific is into the bass player vocals. Apart from these 3 tracks, one SLAYER cover ( which is absolutely average), 3 are remixed, and another 3 from the demo tapes. For fans could do. For me it’s a pretty useless release, if not for the demo tapes which might be quite hard to find at the moment (and raised a bit on nostalgic feeling in me to hear the old vocals, I remember…oh well.. fuck off).MALEVOLENT CREATION (USA/Fl): “Eternal” CD 1996 Pavement
This is one of those CDs that were released when Bret Hoffman was out of the band, and thump me, but during that period, the band made me sleep. They were so uniform and plain they absolutely lost my attention after a few minutes. Luckily I managed to see the band playing these songs with Bret back in the band and I realized how darn great they were. Couldn’t guess such a difference with a singer or another. But they’re absolutely different. MALEVOLENT have a spin that make their song never sound stupid even when they fall into the chugga chugga syndrome. But again, they are whet they are no more no less. Respect them for it, but I won’t praise em like I can praise ANGEL CORPSE, MORBID ANGEL or NILE. They play Death Metal in their own special way, and stick to it.
