    When the band was united, NUCLEAR DEATH was ultimate. Ultimate artwork, ultimate sickness, ultimate horror, deprivation, nightmarish music. Then something happened, Phil left the band for EROTICIDE for unknown reasons (reasons Laura skips to talk about like leprosy, either ignoring the questions or not ansering with short one-word sentences) and NUCLEAR DEATH changed face forever. But contrarily to what I expected, you can still tell it’s them, even if they are not the grinding vortex of folly they were some years ago, the horror, the obscene unescapable consciousness of disharmonic grue beyond the veil of reality is still here, obscene, depraved textures of fury, mindless gods, perverted creatures still crawl between the shrieks and fuzzy laden soundscapes of the Planet Cachexial. Originally to be called “Slumberblood” this CD is something of the most dark, deprivating material I have ever heard: beware it’s neither fast nor thrash/grind in any way, it’s mostly slow, grey, hallucinating music who just injects fear into your blood, you can hear the whispers, the obscene rituals of these alien beings, breath the heavy moist air of the planet… the CD comes with a booklet who summarily describes the concept of the work with some artwork and acid lyrics. Cachexial is an old, perverted world beyond salvation, inhabited by monstruous beings that came right out of a nightmare, sometimes I recall flashes of Lovecraft blasphemies although the intention is not clearly stated anywhere within this disc. The music does not follow a straight pattern, it’s just a trip who brings you into atrocious poetry of music and noise, if you let yourself being dragged through the music you could probably hear the dissonance, the silences, the distant screams, and slowly but unerringly the shapes begin to take form in front of your eyes… deformed by eons of hate and cruelty… this music is art for my ears, take some sort of drugs and walk in the fog with this Cd in your ears and I can promise you a rope around your neck, this is the sort of terror who really sucks you in, obscene beyond words.. a theatre of bones and deformities. Grotesque and immortal, NUCLEAR DEATH is still capable of one masterpiece after masterpiece, just don’t think conventional, NUCLEAR DEATH shits over your conventional thought patterns, they ARE horror personified, and horror takes no form but the one you fear most. Get the Planet Cachexial from Cat’s Meow (which is just Laura as far as I know, and only release ND stuff eheh) . and shiver in humiliation.

    This band was completely unknown to me , until “Jill” from Razorback rec. suggest me to search for them . And she’s right !!! In fact this act coming from Brazil , play unrelenting skilled visceral brutality in the vein of old Suffocation and Flesh Grinder . However they are more gore-ripping- flesh oriented , above all for using sick vocals in contrast to an ordinary leading growls ; and for the crunchy guitars . The disc features 8 songs + an instrumental intro and outro . Each song drenched of barbarity , will be more than a dripping suffer for yours bleeding ears . Luckily yours spurt of blood will be no longer cause the disc length-time runs only for 28 min . Give a chance to our Brazilian football-addicted brothers !( Ronaldo return yeaaahhhhhhhhh!!!! )

    Nauseous, old school Death/Gore, although not that breed of Death Gore one means today with bands such as EXHUMED or SANITY’S DAWN, but much more of Swedish Death Metal a la GRAVE with a good, cavernous, harmonized vocals array and a great old-school songwriting. There is nothing really amazing at a first listen of this CD maybe, you should have lived the late 80’s early 90’s to understand the special feel it gets, the melodies that lade the songs are not just pretty, they’re more of revolting, the guitar sound absolutely GRAVE/old DISMEMBER/CREMATORY, and the lyrics definitely into the paradoxical pathological universe of CARCASS. The combination of slow, relentless riffs, disgustingly down tuned sonorities and harmonized vocals will bring in a few years to a brand new genre of gore/grind, now deliciously purveyed by acts like COCK & BALL TORTURE. This album is a classic, for being the first Poserslaughter release if for nothing else. Great shit, makes me nostalgic.

    This is what I call grindcore, no more labels are needed than these two words: Girnd. Core. And they are just plain perfect in playing it, not counting they have a factor which rarely blesses grind releases, amazing artwork and package (but that’s probably due to Relapse behind the scenes). Like I said in the first line, this is Grindcore in its quintessence, they have it all to be the ultimate Grindcore band of late millenium: short blazing songs no more than a handful of seconds each, great catchy riffs which surprisingly don’t sound too “crusty” or “punk” a la G-ANX or ENT, short hair and baseball caps, a huge discography with at least one split with AGATHOCLES, a monochrome cover, they talk shit about Death Metal, and have at least one song with a question mark (“for what cause?”). To sum it up in short, I like this shit a lot, it actually takes some qualities to stuff almost 40 songs in an album without getting too even or make you sleepy… all this is packed with great no-nonsense, no-metal riffs, some solos (ayeh, incredible!) and lots of well thought song lyrics… this album is also blessed by an impeccable sound, mastered by Bill of EXIT-13 (RIP…) it gets so low sometimes it could even be old BRUTAL TRUTH or even some Swedish GRAVE-like band, if they actually slowed for a bit and made you hear the guitar sound… but they do not, thay blaze through each song with blinding speed, thrashing all canons of grindcore with rage of half growled/half top of the lungs screams, when Grindcore somewhat gets a bit weaker, sound, vocal department (both of which are just matter of tastes, I do love filthy grind, but when it’s recorded this way, it might even get better) NASUM get reinforced, steeled in a armor of ground-shaking tarrorism. A pattern who is even reinforced in the more recent Human 2.0.

    It happens very rarely that I get bored by a good Death Metal band, independently by the brutishness of the music, on the contrary I am very often sick of whining about albums “always sounding the same” and stuff (I remember of a particularily hot debate when “Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses” was just released and nobody still cared for BRUTAL TRUTH), but this time I have surprised myself, this album, it just doesn’t get on me, and for no reason. If you listen to their previous demo, you would have given ’em the world in their hands, but just like KATAKLYSM 5 years ago, they lost the twisted sickness on the road to the debut CD. I want to make it clear, this is SUPERIOR Death Metal, with all the right modules, the drumwork is exceptional, with their characteristical overuse of cymbals and double bass blasts, the sound production perfect, the riffs hyper technical, solid, constantly in change…what maybe flattens the whole a bit is the vocals… just like the latest DERANGED shows… not very like SUFFOCATION/PYREXIA/NOISM/NECROPHAGIST or VOMIT REMNANTS the band has nonetheless all the good things of these bands without sounding even fairly American…it’s difficult to describe… tight as fuck song structures, constant tempo changes, big sound, yet absolutely eastern European… if you happen into it, try it, it has all the right things in the right place, although I tend to get sleepy in the long run…

    Sometimes I am pleased to know I could have been a talent seeker. I got this demo through a flyer and while very few people seemed to care for them among the persons I have been in touch recently, I felt they were going to be somebody one day. The band was to sign for Relapse now, and I felt quite a satisfaction. YATTERING is frightening, A death and war machine. They have such a varied and tight drumming it’s almost hard to follow at times mixing technical tempo changes with frenzied hyperblasts that could rival MESHUGGAH in intricacy and CRYPTOPSY in speed (the drummer also replaced Docent of VADER for a while). The whole tape is inhuman, the cover artwork is great, the sound is great, the whole music is great, twisted yet pure Death Metal, violent and intense like really few I have ever heard. If these boys are gonna still grow technically we could end up with new masters no doubt. I can’t really describe them in detail but the songs a very twisted approach, though not like NECROPHAGIST, I’d say the guitars are not that swirling, everything dressed with thick grunts,. Top notch Death Metal here, which overclasses even DAMNABLE or DIES IRAE in my opinion.

    Hm. Sometimes compilations can be a cool instrument to get to know various underground bands, and sometimes they are just boring collection of overheard music. Sometimes instead, like this, they are neither of the two. All of the bands are pretty well known and the disc just give you the impression to listen to some sampler you get in high rate magazines. Like any moderately important label, the bands from this comp span several genres. Some are unbearable like SOLITUDE AETERNUS, some like VADER or MALEVOLENT CREATION are much better. What kind of review can I write? The comp spans from old school speed/thrash like FEAR OF GOD (ex-DÉTENTE), to slamming Brutal Death like INTERNAL BLEEDING to laughable attempt at Melodic Death like DARKSIDE. A bit disperse if you ask me. Other bands featured are CRAWL (forgettable crossover), the great CASTIGATE, grandfathers MASTER, HATE PLOW… what is puzzling is that some of the bands in the comp are LONG time dead (in the case of FEAR OF GOD, physically as well as the singer died of overdose) like DEEMTED TED… weird…seems like Pavement is trying to promote its unsold stuff from its store.
