2 piece classic Gore Grind band in the vein of MUCUPURULENT or PURULENT SPERMCANAL with two vocal styles that alternate all through the songs of the disc, one down tuned, guttural, the other a sort of diseased, crepitating lament which remind me of the effected backings used in CARCASS “I Reek of Putrefaction” era. Most of the tempos are kept to a rhythmic, rocking mid tempo level with few accelerations, but to replace the lack of blastbeats they have kept the whole work quite sick, dark and festering. The cover artwork is a living sculpture by Nitsh, lot of blood splattered white with a guy crucified and blindfolded in front of a slaughtered animal. Killer choice although there are some errors in the layout in the back and the song list is confused.

This MCD (basically a 7″ released on Warlore remixed and improved) follows at large, Spikekult concepts and style. Colorless Black fucking Metal of the best sort (aye, Spikekult IS the best Black Metal label around… although it goes forth and back from the dead a bit too often to follow), the kind that seeds hate, destruction, and violence towards life in general. To anroll the club, you have to fit this description, and URGRUND fits the role like a glove. Bloodthirsty and martial, this is kinda cross between black metal with the same old screeching lyrics and something more military, I won’t dare to bring similarities with latest DESTROYER 666 or SOL becouse that won’t exactly fit the idea. The recording however is impeccable and while it never gets to atonishing high speeds it maintains some integrity, even fair melody. The lyrics are generally interesting as well, although like all bands that put vik runes, iron crosses, german bombs, and cite “Aryan pride” and “White Circle” in their lyrics, they define themselves “not political” and absolutely “historical” eheh… I wonder the reason of all this correctness but what the fuck. URGRUND by a sheer musical lever is much more easier listeing that older crude BM although it gets some interest as well. It belongs to the newest brand of intellectual/warlike metal, if you’re into this kind of stuff, get it, personally, I think it’s just OK.Vote gets slightly better for the stronmg identity and coherence anyway.

Over one full hour of ball-grinding tediousness. That UNHOLY are able to articulate complex weaves of progressive slow Death (Doom is largely inappropriate) is undeniable and I don’t go deep in the topic here o the difference. Fact is, whispers, female vocals and keyboards used this way have reached levels of saturation in my scrotum in the end they almost exploded. Towards the end of the disc, there is some reminiscence to real old school doomish bands such as DECOMPOSED but really take it too far in the experimental field on the long run. Whispers, crude vocals that don’t frighten even my cat, and the use of some other instruments (or keyboards) have a gluing effect done in the whole texture, but the music is tight, the structure strong and the guitar sound so acidic it could sometimes even be compared to old ABRUPTUM… but then the few lashes of interesting grimness fade away when the witch-haired pussy starts to show us how fitting her vocals are to doomish metal and transform it in happy folk shit. Whatever, I got bored to Death. And then some more… and then suddently the chicken shuts and only slow… doom sadness remains… and I really wonder what the fist 20 minutes of shit have to do in this release… the end of the disc is great…

It’s saturday night. Your work has been done, and your head is free of troubles. You have that case of cold beer with you, and one shining bottle of whisky on the seat near to the driver’s. What Cd would you even think of putting on but this before a deserved alchoholic night? Tom Angelripper is THE genius, the Lemmy of Thrash Metal., and this music is the essence itself of alcoholic Auphoria. To me, it’s even more, I feel this music boiling in my veins every time I put it on, and all of a sudden, i find this insatiable thirst. This is a collection of Uncle Tom’s best tracks, so if you don’t know the project already, this might be the best of choices.Only bad thing in this SUPREME Cd is that, like all of Gun’s releases, the booklet is just a promotional flyer, and the infos are really laughable. Other than that, this is the Ultimate Drinking Musick. Prosit.

A rather interesting band from Canada who has succeeded in eluding my attention for a while, damn. The sound is maybe not the favorite of mine (the drums are a bit of “slappers” in sound) but the music is intestinely good, shrilling vocals and a bit barfing/guttural ones over well structured Death Metal, not like any big American act… the song structures are sometimes actually more of old-school thrash metal although that doesn’t remark badly on the whole brutality, at times the songs fall to the deceptive fascination of some melodic riffs (hear the first few seconds of “Rapid Desecration”) but the good point is the songs are so varied you can never really identify or label them, they also know how to play fast I don’t know… it’s anything definite although I am not even able to get completely excited, lacks a bit of a clear identity… oh well I guess they’re OK after all, just fix the drum sounds. The last track sounds like the 7th one but played backward at double speed… oh well..

This is really the worst use of drum-machine I have heard in a good while. Featuring a member of a long time dead band like EMPEROR which is really a “Walking Corpse” in the corridors of Black Metal, TARTAROS music is vaguely Black Metallish although the guitars are overwhelmed by a tasteless use of keyboards which heavily suffocates everything. The most common use of keyboards in this crap is to recreate the classic church organ, although sometimes they assume other heavily electronic instrument sound. Whispers and pesky kid screams add to the magnificent tapestries of monumental vampiric ridiculousness. Really one of the worst release from the label, far worse than WITCHERY. Shit.
