Gargling Gore Grind with vulgar intensity that sound like a mix

of SQUASH BOWELS and ANAL BIRTH, these perverts are back with

another depraved attack of tight-as-your-father-asshole goregrind

of the finest sort. The lyric titles are of the stupid, yet black

humorous kind (see BIRDFLESH or BLOOD DUSTER as examples), all

expectorated with disgusting efficiency. The guitar sounds are

so bass-saturated that the speakers in my car emit a constant

frying sound when the singers aren’t following the picking. There

are constant stops in the sound which make the whole akimbo of

kaleidoscopic massacre even more hard to swallow, but also let

you understand that the sound is very crisp else the whole mess

would be totally incomprehensible. I think if GORE BEYOND NECROPSY

were born Aussies they would probably sound this way. To end the

dissection the packaging features a totally sick artwork and a

title which remind me the logo of EYEGOUGER (somebody remembers?),

a complete mess of dark colors and monster heads, exposed innards

and porno/grind images. Killer gore shit.

Basically the music could be described as a collection of different

worlds and styles, on the large part sounding like some version

of German CREMATORY but by no means so damn cheezy, actually this

band not only has musicians who have both talent and skill but

actually recereate melodic atmoshpere without using female vocals

and replacing the duties to a very particular instrument: trumpet

and brasses in genral. While the use of keyboard is abundant,

it’s not prevaricative nor it makes the music gross, on the contrary

the guitars avolve often in complex, ear flowing solos, plunge

into some orchestral crescendo and gets interrupted by a deliciously

grotesque, softly chilling use of brass instrument. The main idea

you get from hearing the band is that everything has a right place

and is played the right way, the colors used for this music are

dim yet elegant, and the strange instrument used just add that

touch of surreality wich can only recall ATHEIST or masters such

as PAN THY MONIUM. While basically not my cup of tea I have liked

a good slice of their arrangements. yet again the AMORPHIS school

really overstuffed my ears some years ago, hence one point less

in the rating I have really this kind of music over my last hair..

    Third

chapter in this heptalogy INHUMATE is weaving year after year.

According to their plan the 6 CDs will narrate the 6 seasons of

human life, from conception to rebirth and ascension to the infinite.

Theoretically the project is rather interesting although I am

really not much into many of the lyrics in the CD, such as “Grind

God” or “Underground” which sound a bit like JUDAS

PRIEST quoting on Death Metal/Grind Core (“I am a Rocker

oh ohh?”). I think some lyrics are interesting but the

ones which are too straight lose some fascination, almost look

like ads on Metal Hammer. Musically the band is darn competent.

Fast Death Metal with grinding acceleration, good boiling vocals,

hundreds of tempo changes, different riffs, razor sharp drumming

and vocal shifts. Songs are varied and yet tight and nit predictable.

Good shit, over 50 minutes long and never sounding the same. Very

metallic to be considered Grind, written with some brain which

is absolutely not to underestimate. Fucking mature band.

IMPALED (USA/Ca): “The Dead Shall Dead Remain” Cd 2000 Death Vomit

    RECENSORE: Unknown

    DURATA:

IMPALED is a relatively new name in the Death metal panorama although

it already deservedly gained good renown due to a humorous bad

taste and a demented dedication to horror (a kind of spirit which

has something of HAEMORRAGE). That they recall EXHUMED is inarguable,

and comprehensible as there is one of the founder of the band

playing here as well, especially when you get caught in the flowing,

gore soaked sound which blasts all through melodic, vaguely CARCASS-ish

solos (and the swinging early CARCASS print is clear sometimes)

and grunts. The production is excellent, and the whole packaging

of among the highest level you get this day (due also to the Eyesore

Graphics studio whose heart nests inside the band). They’re really

not as filthy and tastefully chaotic as EXHUMED or SANITY’S DAWN

to raise me to such levels of uncontrolled rapture, but they’re

damn crazed nonetheless, a barrage of multiple vocals (again,

one of them brings me the typical Steer roaring of the pre-Heartwork

days), grinding accelerations, and sheer murder and horror based

lyrics. Highest level stuff which will be remembered in the future.

Originally released in 1996 by Ironia records as a tape,

this is a recent reprint of that hard to find cassette with the

addition of EP sides which were originally recorded as splits

with INGROWING, GROINCHURN and DENAK, plus the first track ever

recorded by the band 10 years ago (1991) and finally recorded

in a decent way. HAEMORRAGE is still basically the one we know,

rocking gore/death metal with that irresistible CARCASS/DEAD twist

especially when it comes to vocals and lyrics… The first 7 tracks,

the ones who were on the original tape, are very, very much hardcore/rock

on the guitar side, if they were recorded with some less distortion,

without the harmonized vocals, they could have been even easy

listening… then it gets diseased in the classic German school,

and the vocals adds the putrid stench to the whole. Tracks from

8 to 16 have a definitely deeper, darker sound, and have been

recorded in ’98, they include 2 covers from GENERAL SURGERY and

a band called KORTATU (which I honestly don’t know, sounds like

some sort of punk). Apart from the darker sound, the structure

itself of the songs is definitely more eterogeneous, more varied,

less moshing, more grinding… yet always sincerely HAEMORRAGE

and their unique, old school touch. A band who never makes false steps.

                    - Intro - Megaton (DEFECATION), 2 - Vestige of Earthly Remains
(DEFECATION), 3 - Pysosified (Rotten to the Gore) (CARCASS), 4
                    - Premature Autopsy (ENTOMBED), 5 - Disgorging Foetus (REGURGITATE),
6 - Oozing Molten Gristle, 7 - Dear Uncle Creepy... (IMPETIGO).
                    8 - Fascist Pig (SUICIDAL TENDENCIES), 9 - M.A.D.
                    (CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER), 10 -
Satanic masowhore (IMPALED NAZARENE), 11 - Doctor Doctor (UFO)

This CD is more of a collection of cover than an actual

full length release. HAEMORRAGE cover a large spectrum of genres

and bands, all of which have helped build up their particular

crude, basic yet very phlegmy style. From Crossover/Hard Core

with CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER and SUICIDAL TENDENCIES; to Grindcore and

Goregrind with REGURGITATE, CARCASS and DEFECATION to sheer Death

Metal with ENTOMBED (old stuff of course) and even Hard Rock (UFO).

While the songs originally were absolutely different, the HAEMORAGE

factor succeds in giving the CD a meaning for the entire length,

Lugubrious’s CARCASSish/IPETIGOish vocals suits tracks like “Pysosified”,

“Disgorging Foetus” and “Dear Uncle Creepy”

very fittingly, All the covers are so damn convincing you can

easily identify which angle of the music has been ripped to construct

thet hedgepodge of old school core/grind/death which is HAEMORRAGE

today. While I am not incredibly fond of only-cover albums, especially

from a single band, this CD makes me think twice. Actually one

song, the sixth is an unreleased track from the very band, and

it’s darn IMPETIGO in pattern and style, so there’s something

thoroughly HAEMORRAGE as well to taste. On a personal note, I

want to share that I myself grew up with THIS kind of music, while

modern day fanzines make it seems as if in the 80’s everybody

was ONLY listening to BATHORY, SODOM and EXODUS, I would like

to show them the titles that were selected in this CD, there was

a huge crossover between Hard Core and Death Metal in half/late

80’s which was very blurred at the beginning, before the genres

split up so neatly… those days might never be back but bands

like HAEMORRAGE makes the nostalgy sweeter.

    Tracklist

1 - Something is Really Hard 2 - Boulder War Machine 3 - Infanticide 4 - To Mince Human Meat

x BLOODY VOMIT (an obscure (to me) Grind / Noise band),

HUMANITY ECLIPSE play dextrous, skilled Death Metal with an excellent

crisp production and a full bodied, tight sound. Although they

sometimes remind me of CASTIGATE they have a somewhat different

approach to the use of solos and usually encase the burst of grinding

rage, when it should be released full force, in vaguely thrashing

metalllic riffs which to my grinding ears sound a bit too mosh.

I would not consider them American in sound but yet not perfectly

fitting the shoes of European ferocious Brutishness, such as CENTURIAN

or INSISION (hey these are big names…). The accuracy used in

structure the songs is encommiable yet… this is material with

still has some ties with the background of thrash metal this music

had when it was in tarnsition between the 80’s and 90’s (remember

the names SYNDROME or HEXX?) before the savagery was completely

denaturized from the metal ( metal = shit) sound. One step from excellency.
