HUMAN WASTE (Ger): “Loved, Teased, Pleased…” Cd 2001 s/p [demo]

    RECENSORE: Unknown

    VOTO: 7,00/10

    DURATA:

    Tracklist

    1 - Intro 2 - Inhuman Abhorrence 3 - Penis Inn 4 - Maggod 5 -Destined to Fester (AUTOPSY)

A step further from their previous demo, this brand new HUMAN WASTE self-produced

CD have decided to land in my mailbox thanks to the maniacs (thanks

a lot by the way!) in the band. A 4 songs (including an AUTOPSY

cover, “Destined to Fester” from the album Mental Funeral?fucking

wonderful song in particular from an AUTOPSY fanatic like me)

with colour home-made sleeve. Musically the band is still playing

grunting Death Metal with lot of cadenced and slamming tempos,

performed with good playing skills, sometimes sounding close to

olde CANNIBAL CORPSE especially in the second song “Penis

Inn” (counting skipping the intro, which is in German but

I suppose it’s cool) which has those weird guitar tricks which

were abundant in “The Bleeding”. The CD is recorded

in an OK way although not so perfectly as for a full length official

release. There are lots of twists in the songs, continuous tempo

changes, short solos, twists and sudden changes but sadly no shocking

accelerations and well, they need a little bit more of tightness

to come up to the style of relentless Death metal they seem to

be directed at. Dexterity they have to hande their instruments

but I think they still lack a sparkle of life to let the music move up. Just my 2 coins.

There is definitely something to say about a release like

this. Boasted and praised even before the Cd was released, the

band was something almost everybody was waiting for holding the

breath and crossing fingers. Featuring Erik of MORBID ANGEL/RIPPING

COPRSE and the almighty Doug of SUFFOCATION fame, you couldn’t

expect but the best. Then at a gig I got a wondrous compilation

Cd by Erik itself and when I supun it on my car-system I smiled

with 87 theet. Fuck, dozens of vocals crossing in a fucking inferno

of ultra brutal fucking death metal, supreme! At the time KRISIUN,

ANGELCORPSE, DIABOLIC, CENTURIAN, were only the first names of

a probable new wave of refreshed Death Metal. But when I actually

bought the Cd something didnt exactly fit my expectations. Technically,

everything is top notch, guitarwork is impressive, even on a purely

scholastical level it’s really neat and doubtlessly intericate

and “Brutal”, the drumming is frightening and the artwork

very, very interesting… although still, the sheer fercoity of

Brazilian bands such as the aforementioned KRISIUN or ABHORRENCE

gave me the idea of being submerged by too much skill, I had the

impression of an album that had a road paved with gold ahead even

before being judged. Unlimited hours in studio, unlimited hours

of rehearsing and sound engineering, monster skills all in all

just tamed the brute force that this band could have been capable

of, just like this super-perfect production ruined the last KRISIUN

album. Now I will be submerged as well by critics becouse “I

only like demo shit sound” and stuff (Dave Rotten’s words)

but that’s my opinion on HATE ETERNAL. It’s tragically demential

that so many bands complain for ANGELCORPSE being carbon copies

of MORBID ANGEL (obviously, some ignorant faggot rant), while

it is so obvious Erik’s influence in both this band and that.

A guitarist of that skill has a clear cut, definite personality

and that’s it, HATE ETERNAL mostly remind me of a 1000 times faster

morbid angel (I bet if “Chambers of Dis” from the F

album were included in this Cd, nobody would notice). But that’s

not really a big problem at all, HATE ETRNAL really shred ass

on stage, and have in my world conquered the throne in the new

wave of Brutal Death Metal. Musically, if you don’t know them

yet, HATE ETERNAL is fast, fastest Death Metal with ultra-brilliant

production, a drumwork that could daze any MALEVOLENT CREATION

release, vocals that sound like ripped out of the throat of a

maniac, and a guitarwork so intricate mo make your hands ache

if you even think about replying it yourself. The Death Metal

included here is definitely supreme, perfect, adamantine, yet,

I’d add, “even too much” if you know what I mean…

I also tried to give a bunch of thoughts about the lyrics, some

are definitely SUFFOCATION-like in imprint, the kind of you have

to think and reason about, made up of suggestions and cryptic

hidden meanings, while the most are evolving around the topics

of blasphemy (not towards a single religion though… interesting

aspects), and the ascension of some deeper gods from the bowels

of Earth. Visions of skies turning dark, obscene demonic creatures,

spells formulated to pierce the curtain of reality perfectly fit

the ferocious music, and the name HATE ETERNAL becomes clear and

definitely chosen with care to symbolize the band’s tight imagery.

The cover artwork is also splendid, an old Flemish painting of

demons, tortured souls and flames that roar with holy rage, a

curious choice as many Flesmish artist of the past centuries were

actually heretics and used to hide their heresy in their artworks.

The only thing that doesn’t convince me fully is the choice of

the title. “Conquering the Throne”, reading a bit superficially

to the lyrics and having figured a personal perspective of this

Cd as a work of “self accomplishment” by Erik’s part,

of having succeded in forming the ultimate Death metal abnd of

his careere, I associated the things and thought the lyrics meant

something like a concept about “achieving and succeding”

against world’s strongly tied decrees, especially the catholic

ones… but then when I had a chat last year with Erik itself

much of my suppositions revealed to be unfounded… I guess I’ll

either have to re-read completely the work of either discuss a

bit more about it with him, on an interview … (hint hint)…

the one I got last year was rather confused due to my unsufficient

preparation and probably due to my horrible spelled English (

I was rather incredule when he told me he was reading lot of philosophy

and I asked him if he was into Nietzche while writing the lyrics

and he answered “never heard”.. sorry friend, I’ll try

to improve my spelling it next time AH!), so I probably will write

a long, interesting one before the release of the new album. Let’s see, one step from perfection (or one beyond… ).
  • GORGUTS (Can): “From Wisdom to Hate” Cd 2001 Olympic

    RECENSORE: Unknown

    VOTO: 8,20/10

    DURATA: 40:39

    Tracklist

    1 - Inverted 2
                    - Behave Thru Mythos 3 - From Wisdom to Hate 4 - The Quest for
                    Equilibrium 5 - Unearthing the Past 6 - Elusive Trasures 7 - Das
Martyrium Des... 8 - Testimonial Ruins

After that long period of relax, GORGUTS coontinue its campaign for

the desruction of melody with its terrifyingly technical yet highly

dissonant Death metal, a sort of evolution which sometimes remind

me of the genius of a band like DISHARMONIC ORCHESTRA. And disharmoni8c

is the right rem to describe the unhuman, spirit shaking music

which comes out of latest GORGUTS. It takes a bit to digest this

shit but in the end the schizoid self gets ripped out of your

subconscious. While continuing on the scheme of “Obscura”

this album sounds a bit more “conventional” if you forgive

me the term. The vocals are still throaty and the guitars maintain

their contorted, unpredictable trip. Seems as if there are three

different guitars with different tones… it’s damn weird to listen

to the latest GORGUTS, and it’s something that you notice after

a few minutes of listening is that you get up with your nerves

like strings. This music is disturbing on a level more profund

than the simple ear could perceive. This is one of the times when

words can’t describe exactly what the music is like. Have a hear

on the MP3 or buy the CD, it’s worth the cash.
  • GOSPEL OF THE HORNS (Aus): “Eve of the Conqueror” MCd 1999 Damnation

    RECENSORE: Unknown

    VOTO: 7,80/10

    DURATA:

Martial, complex, higher class Black Metal the Australian way,

closest comparison could be probably made to latest DESTROYER

666 though I believe it is the latter who got some GOTH in their

latest “Phoenix Rising”, the songs are fucking memorable

and intricate, with some sort of melodies which lets the head

bang although it can no way be compared to any American or weak

Scandinavian school. There is something that has strong feeling

in this music as if two different discs are played at the same

time yet they fit perfectly over the other. It never gets too

fast but it really does not need it, this band has fucking talent

and personality. The solos are a bit too metal for my tastes but

recall some MOTORHEAD if you concede it to me, to think it again,

the whole music has something of MOTORHEAD as well, so to let

you understand what I mean when I tell you this music drag you

along its lines. Yet it’s fucking malinconic, depressive and yet

    majestic. Great, great band.

GORGASM (USA/Il): “Bleeding Profusely” Cd 2001 Extremities

    RECENSORE: Unknown

    VOTO: 8,00/10

    DURATA:

Ultra crisp, ultra Brutal, now improved by the human session battery

machine Dave Culross (SUFFOCATION, MALEVOLENT CREATION… nuff

said?) GORGASM are back in full shape with their intense, crushing

Death Metal with almost grinding blasts and chunking churning

skin peeling riffs. Porn Grind I have seen they call it in the

reviews, well… could fit, although this is neither Grind nor

Gore as we European mean it (not like DEAD INFECTION at least).

Sure the vocals are damned down tuned and the lyrics deliciously

pervert, yet they’re far from the likes of DEAD, LIBIDO AIRBAG

or COCK & BALL TORTURE, ultimate purveyors of filthy sickness.

First here, is the music, the big guitar riffs are complex but

flowing, and the recording absolutely impeccable, the sound so

saturated they schunk your eardrums to cubes of bacon. Blessed

as well by a wonderful layout (both cover and booklet) this is

more of very high quality Brual Porn Death Metal, ‘mind me a good

cross between the lyrical perversion of LIVIDITY and something

more obscure, more frightening, more Death Metal. Soundwise closer

to the likes of DEPRECATED and DISGORGE (USA), I can’t really

see the reason I have been told this album was “melodic”.

Thanks god, it’s nothing like (spit) “melodic”, the

riffs are crushing, the blasts devastating, spreading like explosions

of fury in the vein of uhmm CEPHALIC CARNAGE (?)…. yet when

they maintain these supposed melodies it’s only the solos, modern

in structure yet classic to the ear… this is an album on par

with our time and age, modern and so perfectly performed it splits

the second with each beat, they’re really human chronometers.

Big, big Death Metal with some variations and definite personality.
  • GOREOPSY (Slo): “Intentional Disfiguration” Cd 2001 Life Fluid

    RECENSORE: Unknown

    VOTO: 7,00/10

    DURATA:

Like I said with CUM, I can’t accept people relating every drum

machine band to MORTICIAN only because they’re the only well known

band who use it. Of MORTICIAN, GOREOPSY have nothing but that

drum thing. The guitar riffs remind me of BASTARD SAINTS with

their schizoid leverages and twists while the vocals remind me

a bit of DESCEND, DEMILICH and AVULSED when they were still heterosexual:

very, very guttural and low, probably it’s very amplified since

singing this way is impossible on the stage unless you’re a toad,

I also imagine because sometimes you hear the tone of the vocalist

when he completes some lines. Whatever the case, mix these three

elements and you get some picture on what GOREOPSY stand for.

Most of the songs walk on the alternating of slow, solid riffs

and grinding accelerations followed by some guitaristic schizophrenia.

A bit even on the long run but a chocolate cake for All-that-is-Gore

maniacs. It’s a pity the layout is incomprehensible. Definitely

too dark as one of the contact address is totally unreadable dark

    blue on black.
  • GENOCRUSH FEROX (Swe): “Glory Glory Strangulation” Cdr 2000 s/p

    RECENSORE: Unknown

    VOTO: 8,00/10

    DURATA: 23:03

    Tracklist

    1 - Sadorage 2 - Nothing Will be Alright 3 - Exit Life 4 - Decoction
of the Creation 5 - Death is Just This

GENOCRUSH FEROX is not the first of the Swedish bands that

I know that vehemently oppose towards the recent trend of melodic

Death which plagues their country, and it’s also one of the best

for sure. Fast and with good, larynx-flaying vocals, GENOCRUSH

FEROX (what a fantastic name eheh) remind me of latest CANNIBAL

(closest comparison I can give) althoughg with several pouands

of savagery, force, and extremity. The grinding parts are overabundant,

the sound production crisp without being too inpersonal, the songs

very long on the average(at least 4 min. each), considering several

personal arrangements, I wouldn’t define this band too “American”-stylish,

there is no slam, no guttural gargles a la DYING FETUS, just ultra

fast Dath Metal, although the complex riff composition also put

them a bit aside of grind core… just like BLOODSHED and SCURVY,

this is the kind of Death Metal which turns me on (so much this

idea of signing ’em for a 7″ EP someday is still boiling

in mind…). Good stage meat, including some vaguely funny arrangements

(the song “Exit Life” starts 1000Mph and follows with

a Ska riff), must be killer to see ’em live.
