DEAD cover have not ever been surpassingly artistic except maybe on the “You’ll never…” CD, always standing in the sado/gore theme but REGURGITATE cover makes DEAD stand out as a Bosh painting, depicting a orange/yellow/red face with lightning cracks all around. The only cover that might be considered this obscene might be INGROWING’s “Cybergore” which is also somewhat similar (ugh). Musically neither band needs much introduction, DEAD being a legendary paragon of perverse death core with sublime slow, perverse passages (thinking of GUT might help getting the point although it’s a hard challenge to think which band was better) and a all-around vulgar imagery: distorted guitars, samples from women climaxing with pleasure mixing with grunts that seem like emitted from salivating pig perverts all makes this part of the CD memorable. Right a bit less varied than the 2 fiull-lenghts with no useless melodies, coarse riff pullings and dry, precise drumming that sometimes almost border grind this band moves up and down through oceans of sin and distasteful disease. Note also MENTOR’s cover: “Women of Sodom” (what else).

DEMONIZED (Mex): s/t split Cd with DOMAIN (Mex) 2000 American Line

Tracklist
5 - Luciferian Vengeance 6 - Wardemonic Sodomy 7 - Metal ChurchDEMONIZED is actually the band where Antimo plays, in a way even more ferocious than
DOMAIN, or better yet more basic and obsessive, in a school which
would fit BEHERIT or early IMMORTAL as well. The sound in this
second half of the split is a bit more fuzzy but it helps the
music come out even more brutal and elementalistic in straight
to the core aggression. Like the band reviewed above, the music
substantially could take place between south American Death Metal
bands such as ABHORRENCE, OPHIOLATRY or ANCESTRAL MALEDICTION,
with an impressive charge of cruelty yet with some blackish backbone,
as the songs have a higher tune and a remotely melodic vibe above
the maelstrom of isntruments. The vocals are 90% of the time on
a high pitched tune, kinda witch shrieks, that’s one more reason
why see the band as well in the Black metal realm as in the Death
dungeons of pain, and solos are abundant and helps the music get
more varied than DOMAIN, but, my humble opinion, I prefere DOMAIN
better. Last time we talked we had half a deal to release this
split for Europe but like it had happened several years ago with
DISGORGE, Antimo answers 3 or 4 e-mails and then falls in slumber.
Hope he could contact me as soon as possible becouse this stuff
is superlative…DOMAIN (Mex): s/t split Cd with DEMONIZED (Mex) 2000 American Line

Tracklist
1 - Intro 2 - Supreme Conquest 3 - The Cursed 4 - War of DominionWhen Antimo of DISGORGE
handed me this CD I was damn curious to hear how one that plays
in a band like DISGORGE could handle a side project and the very
second I heard the first song I was chilled. The music here is
incredible, friends of mine who listened to the split in different
times called me at the phone to tell me how they all were surprised
by these two bands… the drumming style is in the vein of DISGORGE
if we can call it that way since they’re so fast and tight, and
on these speed, differences become more blurred. Lyrically the
band reminds me of something halfway between BLASPHEMY, KRISIUN,
MORBID ANGEL, BEHERIT and ANGELCORPSE, with texts crammed with
demonic invocations, enraptured visions of apocalyptic clashes
between demons and sodomitic orgies of blood. The compressiion
and intesity of the music is incredible, followed up by blasts
a la REBAELLIUN yet with some devilish backing vocals, and little
or no space for breath between one song and the other. The third
song have even some early DEICIDE-like satanic sound in the guitars,
you know, the kind of loose play filled whith whistles and abrupt
stops. Sensational.DISEMBOWEL (Gre): “Zero Turns to One” Cd 2001 s/p

Tracklist
1 - Intro 2 - Powerlust 3 - Sadistic 4 - LSD 5 - All rise all fall 6 - Break the borders 7 - You're dead 8 - Zero turns to one 9 - Intelligent bastards 10 - Everything fix 11 - Condemned 12 - Violence 13 - Emotional plug 14 - OutroThis is a band that definitely surprised me out of the blue. Especially considering that it’s self-produced, the CD is a fucking real
blast in the skull, with an amazing package and a production you
hear only once every few years. Professionally they’re all amazing
players, and use their top notch skill to create real damn top
notch quality songs. The sound in this disc is so crisp, so clean
it could easily be a Floridian Death Metal band right out of the
Morrisounds, the way strings and drum pair thru hyperblasting
speeds remind me only DIABOLIC (fuck, listen to the MP3 and see
if I’m boasting too much), or the best MALEVOLENT CREATION. or
better yet MORBIFIX. The only things not entirely Hyperblasting
Death/Thrash are the vocals who give the music a modern, post
core touch, kinda KONKHRA, the SEPULTURA of a few years ago, for
instance, or dunno, put here the name of any latest Diehard release.
When one gets this impressed one can’t but wonder how long these
guys have been playing or why they have not a contract yet, this
stuff is unbelievably high level and I can’t stop to say, damn
professional. What strays a bit from my views is the modern, industrial-metal
like sound and some of those overused FEAR FACTORY sonorities,
especially evident in the fourth song, when the vocals get filtered…
it’s a very unperedictable pairing, drummer of almost robotic
precision like this and death metal grunts, with this compact,
tight sound the drumming seems much more like a drum-machine than
a human and when the music gets real techno/trance with synth
beats… it gets a bit aehm… out of my range. But I am not the
one whining over modernity or electronic music at all. If it’s
used to symbolize the dehumanization of our society and so on,
it does its job the right way in my opinion. This said, the band
IS Death and Tharsh Metal, but don’t think they’re just another
FEAR FACTORY clone. I can only wonder what they could have done
if they kept it 100% Death Metal…DEPRECATED (USA/Ca): “Deriding His Creation” MCd 1998 Headfucker

Tracklist
1- Deriding His Creation 2 - Mentally Deprived 3 - Realization of Betrayal 4 - Induced DeceptionDEPRECATED from San Diego
has been one of the last bands released and promoted from our
countrymates of sadly departed Heafucker records. Far from their
Grind Core habits, DEPRECATED play superior, steel reinforced
guttural Brutal Death Metal of the finest American sort, the sort
which doesn’t just hip-hops and pound boringly for hours. The
sheer intensity and crushing heaviness of the music can be deservingly
be paierd with that of bands such as SKINLESS or DISGORGE, to
remain in the same city, anyway I think I prefere DEPRECATED better
than DISGORGE. Not only the sound of this CD is among the most
brilliant ones I have heard for the genre, very very crystalline
without being too synthetical, it is just plain BROOTAL with capital
letters. This is the kind of sheer brutality most American bands
fails to reach… the vocals are the lower than low kind, and
get the deserved relief from the whole mush, drums blasts are
clear cut, the sound of the cymbals so crisp… really amazing
production… all in all, a great mind blowing Death Metal disc
which has the only weak spot of being too short. Lyrically their
apocalyptic yet filthy urban style of writing remind me much of
SUFFOCATION, good shit to bring at parties ahr ahr.DEMONLORD (Spa) “Unsacred Soul” Cdr 2001 Satanhades [demo]
I’ve geard review
proclaiming this band as a good, aggressive melodic death in the
vein of AT THE GATES. Well, except for an interesting, slow, moody
intro, the black metal played in there is something of very, very
anonymous, what’s more the vocals are predominant over the music
and sound more like Dick Dastardly’s faithful dog gnawing than
real evil screams. I am not a fan of Black Metal but even I am
able to discern the average from the very bad. Guess in which
category this disc falls. But atleast they’re fast, don’t use
gay keyboards and have some good growling amidst the blackish
plainness.DEADHEAD (Hol): “Dream Deceiver” Cd 1993 Bad Taste

Tracklist
1- Angel Heart 2 - House of Ambience 3 - Repulsive Emission 4 - Unholy 5 - Dream Deceiver 6 - I or the Needle 7 - Crimson Remains 8 - Shifting Sands 9 - Dying Angels 10 - Spiritual SuicideDEADHEAD is a good Thrash/Death Metal band from Holland which play good, sincere music the like it was played when Death was at the beginning, the differneces with thash metal were more blurred, and the overall scene more sincere. I do rarely dig thrash/death metal, especially becouse it usually means “weak Death Metal” in modern termns ah ah.. Actually I haven’t heard neither the newest or the first albums (this is the second one, in fact), but this is pretty much stuff I used to tape trade when I first got into the genre, you can take the best of old MORGOTH as a comparison of Death of good quality. This is by no means the same as, say NEMBRIONIC, which while OK, desn’t stir much the beast in me eheh, it’s more of old DEATH, PROTECTOR, SADUS. DISINCARNATE or the more recent DEMENTED TED, with the clear cut guitars, throaty yet comprehensible vocals, cryptic lyrics and stuff. Good shit all in all although more for thrashers then grinders. Actually this is what other bands like MOSHQUITO prethend to play with no success.
