    I think this album is rather

    OK. The guitar sound is undoubtedly Swedish, the riffs a bit too

    much clear cut for my tates but all in all not bad. The vocals

    remind me of old UNLEASHED as they’re more of the throaty guttural

    kind, the music is a bit saturated by fast, almost grinding parts

    (not exactly grind, more of fastest, controlled blasts of MALEVOLENT

    CREATION), although much like INFESTDEAD, it sounds a bit too

    much “planned”, the music is OK but needs a bit more

    inspiration, a bit more of sheer rage, really the music have the

    feel of being oplayed by skilled, veteran musicians maybe, but

    comes out lacking of some genuine energy, which sadly makes the

    whole a bit anonymous (there are not lots of Swedish bands with

    this good tuned guitars, but definitely too many which lacks earlier

    band’s filthiness). Double bass drumblasts abound, and the sound

    is impeccable (recorded at the Soundlabs, ex NASUM member’s recording

    studio), what should I say exactly, I think it’s a bit too “scholastic”

    as a arelease, But there is nothing really expecially bad in this

    product. Death Metal with Swedish roots but neither lodes nor

    infamy. The package is absolutely mediocre, starting with the

    cover rip-off of MY DYING BRIDE’s amazing McKean’s works.

    , is what Circle Of Dead Children offers . This MCD is quite different

    , and to me better , than their previous : it explores in few

    minutes some cool ideas . Take a dose of Cephalic Carnage skilled

    brutality ; a dose of Ludddite Clone architectures sperimentalism

    ; and a dose of Discordance Axis futuristic minimalism ; then

    shake them and probably you will obatin this lethal cocktail .This

    is grindcore art in its best form played with surgically precision

    . While waiting for their new release on Necropolis rec. delight

    yourself listening this masterpiece !

    To compare this band to MORTICIAN would be too easy just because

    they use a drum machine, but then not completely inappropriate.

    While definitely more MORTICIAN than GORE BEYOND NECROPSY, due

    to their strictly horror nature and lower than low distorsion,

    this band steps out of the typical drum machine-gore grind with

    an approach so suffocating you feel like oppressed by some unavoidable

    destiny until you get the CD out of the deck. What I love more

    in this CD is when the goregrind barrage of guttural riff and

    blasting drumbeats stops and shift immediately into slow, anxiety

    laden moments of pure doom, which only bands of great class such

    as INCANTATION are able to architect. Yet the inhumanity of the

    drum machine helps stretching a veil of different malignancy below

    it all which is even different from McEntee’s band: serpentine,

    immensely evil vocals with a sort of echo which reminds some humid

    cave dripping with cold moisture? it’s this sensation of

    close, breath taking unavoidability which makes this album beyond,

    say, LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY or other straight Gore bands. The heavy

    breaths, the claustrophobic hissing in the background, the voices

    screeching all around, the rasping inhalations like some murderer

    in gas masks amplifies the already black texture of this disc.

    Good yet rather simple layout made by Leon of IMPALED get this

    second printing of the disc (first one on Deliria was released

    somewhere in ’96 but this time I’ll rate the disc as if it’s not

    a reissue, I bet it’s too difficult to get the original right

    now) to unnamed peaks of bestial perversity. You already know

    they’ve now changed name to VAMPIRIC MOTIVES so I won’t repeat

    it here. Eh.

    This is the remastered version

    of the best Death Metal album of all time. Nothing more to add. I want

    to keep this review short becouse this album is from me the absolute

    bible of Death Metal the way it should always be played, vocals are

    absolutely inhuman, maybe the best ever recorded in ANY Death Metal

    record, the sound is absolutely dark, brooding, abysmally obscure, yet

    crunchy and havy as a load of rotting meat. If you start listening to

    this CD (which was also released a few years ago by Earache/Necrosis

    as a split with CADAVER), in a chronological order starting with the

    demo number one, you can easily identify a huge CARCASS spine, which

    is actually the embryo of what later developed in CARCASS’s unique style

    (if you can get ahold of CARCASS’s “Flesh Ripping Sonic Torment”

    demo you understand what I mean) of gore soaked pathologism. What later

    developed from this demo is a unique, sincere, untamed essence of underground

    spirit and sincere AUTOPSY laden artwork, this masterpiece took form

    of “Dark Recollections”, also blessed by an unique, incredible

    cover artwork that can make any other Seagrave work shit in its pants).

    Beyond this CD, nobody can go, what spills from every second of its

    length is beyond words, it might have been played by young musicians

    but all of these musicians have later ripped this sound to create band

    each of which have paved an unique style in the intricate world of underground

    Death Metal. And the very spirit, the very class of each of them was

    avident tenfold in this album. A masterpiece beyond time and words.

    No words to praise it the right way. Absolute number one.

    Well, actually BURIAL israther brutal as a Death Metal act, although the music doesn’t keep it to the limit of heaviness all through like SPLATTERED CADAVER does, having arrived both in my mailbox the same day, I can’t but compare the two Cds and well, BURIAL are Ok, good heavy grunting vocals and stuff, with some more gloomy slow parts (although to define ’em Doom would be a bit too much), riffs are tight and the music heavy anyway yet never excedingly fast, I would reccomend it to the biggest lovers of this American Death style. I personally don’t fig much the parts when the singer just follows along the music with the vocals, when the music gets a bit choppy, he sounds like he’s singing some stupid jingle (hm if you don’t like JUNGLE ROT like me, you know what I mean). I think he just could shut up a bit more and create better vocal patterns, but the overall is good, definitely more than average.

    The CD starts with a chainsaw! Ah ah.. good start… BRUTALITY REIGNS SUPREME plays heavily harmonized Gore/Girnd with the characteristic sound of a drum machine to back up the short, straight to the point tracks. 26 tracks in 25 minutes says it all I think. They’re savagely brutal, uncontrolled, down tuned and absolutely elementalistic in their approach to this music. The vocals are like a crazed roar which kicks and darts uncontrolled over 3/4 notes riffs… I think the message is pretty clear, we want it brutal, not nice. Everything is essential although almost too much one could object… basic, sturdy grind core with a grossly splatter armor, no nonsense, no bullshit, only straight ahead muzak. And one half SOD cover eheh.. They’re lovely aren’t they?

    BRODEQUIN is a relatively new spine chilling Brutal Death Metal band from Tennessee, and they hit the market firsthand with this CD which really has something of unbelievable. When saying it’s brutal, you’re not even halfway from the truth, you must hear it to believe it. On a very basic way, the structure/scheme of the songs is the routine, that is, crushing riffs, ultra-barbaric grunting vocals, crazed drumblasts, but what hits the stomach is the neanderthal intensity with whom the band follows this line. The whole sound is definitely and genuinely American, yet pushed farther than almost anybody before, really something you can shit in your pants listening to: while the sound remains real crisp, the vocals are beyond guttural, the guitars below thinkable compression and the drums ultra-tight, which gives the package a vein of sanguinary obscurity. Other than for the music, the band has a definite personality, dealing with medieval inquisition and relative tortures, iron brands, pyramids and of course, the brodequin, a wicked instrument used to crush yourlegs in the most gruesome way. Black and white cover depicting a medieval torture and a neat, stylish package complete the product, which was, rather surspisingly, self-released. Actually judging by the excellent work they’ve done in promotion, this choice might have a winning one. They are reaping good review over good review (deservingly) and I see lots of merchandise sold so… wherever my disquisitions have brought us, this CD really brings you in a meatgrinding vortex of medieval ignorance and overwhelming pain (my fave track is “The Virgin of Nurnberg” ), I think their choice of dealing with history is rather interesting, keeping it sick and gore, but with a strong conceptual backbone. Really crisp, brutal, fistfucking shit.
