This band is unknown to me ; they come from cold Russia and together with their mates Abosranie Bogom ( porngoregrind coprophagist shit-addicted ) demonstrates how extreme death metal is growing-up in this land , even though , there are many economics problems . They play usual U.S. brutal-death , simple to listen and full of gore lyrics . But the main problem is that they completely lack in originality , cause , “Catacomb abttoir” is the perfect mix of old Suffocation/ Dying Fetus/ Pyrexia masterpieces . However they shows us good skills ability and a ferox attitude, so , the songs are quite nice and absolutely never boring .

Drums isn’t very complex , but well arranged ; guitar sound is pretty interesting and vocals are common deep growls .

    Give’em a chance , I’m sure next time they’ll improve their originality !
  • UNHALLOWED (USA/Nj): “Punchfucking Blasphemy” Cd 1999 s/t

Yet, another interesting act coming from New Jersey , and features Jay Lipitz ( ex partner of Jill Girardi when both them run Mortal Coil rec. and zine ) on guitar and backing vocals . After their appearance on several compilations they released this self-financed CD.

“Punchfucking blasphemy” is strong , powerful and heavy ! It concentrates all classics brutal-death-grind topics mixed with an evil blackish touch , well inserted in each song’s structure .

Drum patterns are extremely fast and varied , razor guitar are really complex and catchy , but the main surprise is the insane female bass player . They use 2 types vocals : one is usual deep growl ; the other is more sick and blackish oriented , but not so irritant ( even if , surely I’m not a black-metal fan ) . Last but not least , production is really impressive to be a self-financed album .

Check out them before it’s too late!

I couldn’t believe my ears when I listen Luddite Clone for first time , new sensational star into Relapse’s rooster. They play technical, experimental and psychotic grindcore, very similar to hallucinated atmosphere a-la Cephalic Carnage , but less death metal oriented . Drumming is constantly fast and intense , with tons of tempos changes , blended with very catchy guitars riffage , full of extravagant passages . Obviously add to these things the usual excellent Relapse production and you’ll obtain a lethal mix . The only worst thing here , is the short lenght time , but I guess they are working for an imminent full-lenght album ; so buy it now and prepare yourself for a new , futuristic grind era !
  • IMPETIGO: “Faceless” picture 7″ Ep 2000 Morbid

Hey am I really supposed to review IMPETIGO or what? Should I judge the picture release of this classic? I guess it I would be nutcase if I tried define how

perfectly insane this band was, how completely original and imaginative the use vocals were over this texture of hardcore, metal, punk and grind was, or how

influential to the whole panorama of Horror cinematic Death Metal for years to come this band was destined to be at the time of this seven inch. IMPETIGO are

masters, bar none. It’s a band that has crawled up the top ten lists of almost every real maniac into this scene, and it would probably be silly to consider

giving it a rate. While picture discs, especially a seven inch like this show up show up mainly for commercial reasons, I couldn’t spare my wallet the

deserved 3 bucks to buy it, even though it meant slipping it from the hands of somebody who didn’t have the long time sold out original seven inch from ’91.

This is culture boys, if ANYBODY missed this scab of history, they should get it NOW. For those subhumans who don’t know the band, IMPETIGO are just weird.

Pervert and crusty though each song is absolutely defined as one single story from a uncle Creepy strip story. Enough words.

Cult the music, 8 the new format as it’s 100% the same as the original seven inch. One last note if you happened in the tape where the title “Decapitado en

fin de ano” springs to the eye on front get it immediately, it has one bonus track.

  • CAPTAIN 3 LEGS (USA): split 7″ Ep with UNHOLY GRAVE (Jap) 1997 Headfucker

As for CAPTAIN 3 LEGS (featuring Ace of DISMEMBERED FETUS and bla bla bla and now defunct Pigeoneck Underground), they have this maniac frenzy in the songs I

actually find of my liking. Twofold vocals work out a texture of screams and shrieks so tight they reach several times the borderland of pure noise. Songs

are interrupted abruptly and are sometimes vroken by slow, heavy parts of refuelling sludge hard core. Somewhat good but not astounding.

  • UNHOLY GRAVE (Jap): “Xeroxed Person” split 7″ Ep with CAPTAIN 3 LEGS (USA) 1997 Headfucker

Hmph. In all honesty, UNHOLY GRAVE leave me cold. They play that sort of hilarious Japanese chaotic grind with lots of funny tempos the like of early CSSO

but without their (faded away with time) ability to shift to bulldozer grind when needed. I can’t really find a good reason to actually like this band. Let’s

see… well they’re crazy for sure. But. Hm. Some do it with class, sometimes you feel taken by the light hearted feeling of the jingles and then you find

yourself crushed in a machinery of grinding gears. UNHOLY GRAVE don’t have it, they simply lack have the pull force. They’re equally demential from start fo

finish. Somebdoy will surely dig this side. I wont give my opinion, though.

  • COCK & BALL TORTURE (Ger): “Regulation” split 7″ Ep with SQUASH BOWELS (POl) 1999 Bizarre Leprous

Whoah a fucking split with two among my most beloved Gore Grind acts of today. The CBT side is damn sluggish and disharmonic, with a sound that can be compared only to a man swimming in condensed sperm, with vocals so inhuman they can’t but belong to a fat pig in bondage trying to squeal all the way through a synthetic tube everything in a polished steel fetish factory. There’s something disturbing in this band that’s the same feeling you have when looking at a fetish porn movie: the gum and latex in contact with flesh, gas masks and steel implants and genital horror gore. That’s what you feel when listing to CBT’s aseptic drumming and synthesized vocals.. The electronic drums help they create a very particular sound that crosses all the way from GORE BEYOND NECROPSY to DEAD.
