SQUASH BOWELS are the other side of this music. Definitely quintessential Gore Grind with all the elements arranged in a an exquisite design. There’s something in the songs that dimly remind me of TERRORIZER and MORTICIAN although it’s only in the background, like a flea stinging your ass. Acute screams and rasping growling in a kermesse of unadulterated gore grind with sludgy monstrous funereal parts between a grind blast and the next one. Perfect, absolutely pure Gore Grind. Might be a big statement but to me this band together with DEAD INFECTION stand to Gore Grind like NAPALM DEATH’s “From Enslavement to Obliteration” stand to Grind Core. Crucify me now :).

Hell. Actually there are very few persons that stand out the stereotype of the crusty grinder, the black evil metal antichrist or the Death Metal conqueror. Actually I do not have preferences of sort. Music is either good or bad, and ARKHON INFAUSTUS hit my G spot with a fucking fist. This is the martial damned blasphemous rapture I seek in Black metal and so few can offer. Covered with studs from head to toes, singing with clenched theet and spitting blood and hate towards Christianity, this fucking band sometimes reinforces its Black Metal ferocity with deep tuned backing vocals in a really effective way. The guitar riffs are the RIGHT ones for this genre. Black Metal Armageddon for warriors of Hate. Gut Christ the cunt on his cross. Six Six Six AH!! With ANTAEUS the best Black Metal band I have heard in years. And both from France. Sigh.

A bit more traditional is VISCERA: Mickey Mouse like vocals a la MELT BANANA together with deep tuned vocals which do not sound too convincing, you know, sort of “they don’t rasp the throat”. Their sound is ominously dirty and mixage is a word with doesn’t even make sense here, which might be definitely appropriate for a Grindcore band, and the song cuts from almost IMPETIGOish mid paced riffs to faster grinding beats and slow parts with a very basic bass slamming in the vein of many youthful hard core bands. If you want my opinion (you probably should since you’re reading this) they’re a foot below VOMIT SPAWN in sheer creativity.

Fucking cool schizophrenic, insensate noise grind. Sometimes the band shifts down to a sulk of instrumental hysteria that could vaguely remind of NAKED CITY gone Grindcore but without experimental sax or stuff, anyway don’t be confused by my words when I describe insensate I don’t mean the songs don’t have their own class. On the contrary VOMIT SPAWN excellently cross the borders of downtuned Grindcore and schizoid noise. Sometimes the vocals are so pissed off you can figure Yamatsuka Eye is working with them. The sound of the drums is so synthetic it could easily be a drum machine (Phony Tony the name of the drummer leaves me a bit hesitant on this topic) but it never blasts into the blinding speed of MORTICIAN or GORE BEYOND NECROPSY.

Really fast Death Metal with some thrash metal reminiscences featuring, at the time of the recording, members of CENTURIAN/PLEURISY/HOUWITSER. The disc had to be released in 1997 by Moonlight but since the label was blown it took 2 more years for Damnation to print it. Which also meant only 2 of the original members have remained. Backed by the characteristic drumming of Wim of CENTURIAN the songs surge definite Death Metal with a vague VENOM reminiscence in the slowest parts and a basic single lightning speed riff Death Metal with thrashy vocals to add spice to the fastest parts. I do not. Hm. Feel overwhelmed by the band as I have not been been blown by HOUWITSER although this is definitely better. Fast parts are amazing, slower ones are a bit retro, which to this day I consider boring.

When will this Grind Rock dementia end? CLOTTED SYMMETRIC SEXUAL ORGAN start to bore me a bit. Even though the jingle that saturate the intro reminds a bit of THE GOBLINS. Thankfully the band was still a bit frenzied and grindish at the time of this split and damn, the way Psycho Rock alternates with Bestial eruptions was catchy I have to admit But. But no, no way, they might be crazy but that’s not stuff for me. Sorry.

DEAD INFECTION are just a Gore Grind classic. They have all the stereotypical characteristics of a Gore Grind band. Short, guttural song stretches, horrific splatter photo covers, and a damn huge discography. With the big exception they did start it all far before almost everyone else, and they continue to do it with style with unbending enthusiasm. I couldn’t accurately argue what the Polish voice says in the beginning and the end of their side, but the rest that stands in between is the characteristic subhuman grunts and slamming hardcore chords that characterize the band’s works with a sturdy HAEMORRAGE/IMPETIGO constitution (though it would be proper to say the opposite). DEAD INFECTION are a stronghold of Gore in its untarnished essence. If you like the genre, you can’t ignore them.
