In January 2021 the first, and so far only, Nuclear Abominations fest was held. A concert organized together with Tormenting Steel promotion to celebrate the 20 years of Nuclear Abominations as a label. It was a night of splatter and extreme metal, with film screenings by Spasmo Video and a magnificent selection by Alex Visani.
Gli Schizzacervelli
A cineforum that screens low-budget horror movies, in this case Gli Schizzacervelli (Italian for Braindead) also helps with a northern Italy edition of Alex Visani’s Spasmo Fest yearly also taking place in Perugia. During the rest of the year Gli Schizzacervelli monthly sceen a horror movie trying to give independent directors and staff some visibility.
Those who have been reading this fanzine since its online inception in 1999 (previously as you know, it was a paper only effort) you might even remember I used to review splatter movies. Ah, the nostalgy! Well, the horror side of Nuclear Abominations is sicker than ever.
Spasmo Fest 4
Nuclear Abominations is proud to co-organize the independent horror film festival Spasmo Fest, now in its fourth edition, starting in 2024. Spasmo Fest is dedicated to showcasing underground and indie horror films, offering a platform for filmmakers who embrace the bizarre, extreme, and unconventional.
